Luxcon 2025 - Meet the Artist

The Artist Alley at LuxCon is always a highlight for me — from small indie creators to well-known names, there’s such a variety of talent on display. It’s inspiring every year.

That said… okay, small rant incoming (with affection): I’m not a huge fan of some of the new booth setups that are starting to pop up. You know the ones — all those metal grid structures that look more like a security checkpoint than a cozy artist stall. There's just so much stuff packed into them that it kind of overwhelms the actual art and, honestly, takes away from the joy of meeting the artist face to face.

Personally, I’ve always loved the simpler setups — just a table, some beautiful art laid out neatly and a friendly face to talk to. Not a wall between you and the artist. Sure, maybe there’s less merch on display that way, but for me, conventions are more about connection than conversion rates.

Of course, I get it — I don’t rely on art sales to pay my rent. So if those bigger setups help artists make a better living, then more power to them! This is purely me airing out a personal taste — a little nostalgic grumble from someone who just loves the human side of Artist Alley.

All that out of the way the ,Artist i did buy there drawing and books, where all stalls where the art had place to breath and i had a little chat with the artist and author.

Maybe i really get to be an old man yelling at clouds.
